NFL Awards Biggest Potential Wins

by WagerHome Blog on January 31, 2023

As the NFL takes a week off to get ready for the Super Bowl, let’s check in on their end-of-season awards, and which bets are most likely to cash in.

Most Valuable Player

The biggest NFL award of the night, and heading into this final week of betting, there isn’t a whole lot of doubt that Patrick Mahomes is going to win. He was paying +800 back in August, and the season’s leader in yards and touchdowns is now paying just -750.

Jalen Hurts was voted 2nd NFL Team All-Pro, making him the only other realistic contender, and he’s paying a distant +1500.

Offensive Player of the Year

Often seen as the award for the best offensive player who isn’t a quarterback, there are two non-quarterbacks on the list. Tyreek Hill was a favorite early in the season, but he’s at +1400 today. Justin Jefferson began the season paying +2000, and now he is the huge favorite at -800.

Defensive Player of the Year

NFL

These are regular season awards, so the big game from Chris Jones in the AFC Championship Game does not matter. He is one of the three finalists, but a long shot at +10000.

The favorite is Nick Bosa of the 49ers, going from +1200 in the preseason to -1100 today. Preseason favorite Micah Parson still has a chance at +600. When the season kicked off he was paying +900.

Offensive Rookie of the Year

This is one of the most interesting awards of the year, with three finalists that are all worthy candidates. It comes down to what you think the award means. Does it go to the best player all season long, or the player with the biggest impact?

If it’s the latter then you like Brock Purdy at +700. The 49ers quarterback wasn’t even on the betting boards in August. If you favor a full season of contributions, it’s either Garrett Wilson at -200 or Kenneth Walker at +450.

Defensive Rookie of the Year

Aidan Hutchinson of the Lions was the preseason favorite at +500, and he had a very good second half to the season to keep his name in the conversation. But Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner is the first rookie corner to be 1st Team All-Pro in 41 years, and at -1200 he is the runaway favorite. He was paying +1000 when the season began.

Coach of the Year

The NFL favorite is Nick Sirianni at -175, although the Eagles have a loaded roster and were picked to win the NFC by a lot of pundits. Kyle Shanahan is at +300, and deservedly so after the musical chairs he had to play at NFL quarterback. Doug Pederson, from No. 1 draft pick to division champion in just one year, is paying +900.

Pay Per Head Software

There is still time to bet on most of these awards, and then of course Super Bowl Sunday is right around the corner. And if you are an independent bookmaker, don’t head into the big game without the aid of a big pay per head software provider.

NFL Week 9 Betting Picks

by WagerHome Blog on November 3, 2021

When the dust settles on Monday night, we will officially be halfway done with the regular season. So let’s end the first half on a high note and hit on all of these bets for NFL Week 9.

New England Patriots (-4) at Carolina Panthers

The Patriots had been getting close, with almost victories against both the Buccaneers and the Cowboys. But little things were getting in the way, and we weren’t quite sure if they could figure out how to fix them.

Going into Los Angeles, beating the Chargers, and making Justin Herbert look nothing more than average is an excellent start. And coming on the heels of a 41-point drubbing of the Jets isn’t bad either.

The tale of the tape is this: Mac Jones is better than Sam Darnold, and as good as Carolina’s defense has played, New England’s is playing even better. Matt Rhule is also a good head coach, but Bill Belichick is still the master.

Patriots win this game by at least a touchdown. Take the Pats and lay the points.

Los Angeles Chargers (-1.5) at Philadelphia Eagles

A two-game skid sandwiched around the bye week is not how the Chargers envisioned ending the month of October. They’ve gone from first place in the AFC West to fighting for the wild card lives. But there is simply too much talent on this team to believe this kind of play continues.

The losses to the Ravens and Patriots were bad, but the Eagles are also bad – not including their demolition of the Lions last week. Prior to the skid, the Chargers had covered three consecutive point spreads. Remove the Lions from the equation, and the Eagles have covered just three of seven games.

L.A. wins at Philadelphia by at least a touchdown.

NFL Week 9 Betting Picks

Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals (-2.5)

Welcome to a world in which we expect the Bengals to win football games. Such is life when you have weapons like Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Joe Mixon.

It’s because of this new world that we look at what happened to the Bengals last week against the Jets as an aberration and not a trend. The Titans lost to the Jets and have won four straight since. Cincinnati should also bounce back in a similar fashion, beginning this weekend against their Ohio rival.

Gone are the good feelings about last year’s playoff win over the Steelers. Last Sunday against Pittsburgh, it felt like the same old Browns. Cleveland is limited by injuries, and now Odell Beckham, Jr’s father, is going after Baker Mayfield on social media. It’s not going to help, either OBJ’s numbers or Mayfield’s play.

Cincinnati is simply the better team, and they will win on Sunday by at least a field goal.

NFL Week 8 Betting Picks

by WagerHome Blog on October 27, 2021

We are nearing the halfway point of the NFL season, and the action around the league is heating up. There are some big games on the schedule in Week 8, but more importantly, there are some great NFL Week 8 betting opportunities to be had.

Arizona Cardinals -6.5 vs. Green Bay Packers

The 7-0 Arizona Cardinals host the 6-1 Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football to kick off Week 8. These are two of the best teams in the NFL this season, but the Packers are coming into this game shorthanded.

Green Bay could be without their top three wide receivers due to injuries and COVID-19, and that is going to have a big impact on this game. Arizona is scoring over 32 points per game, and the Packers will need to score to keep this game close.

This would be a great game if both teams were at full strength, but that won’t be the case in this one. Take the Arizona Cardinals -6.5 as they win this game by a touchdown at least.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers -5.0 at New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints pose the biggest challenge to Tampa Bay in the NFC South, but it’s not a very big threat. Tampa Bay has been rolling over opponents this season, and they will be looking to make a statement in New Orleans.

The Saints are allowing less than 17 points per game this season, but they haven’t faced an offense this good yet. Tom Brady has already thrown for 21 touchdowns this season, and this should be another huge day for the Tampa Bay offense.

NFL Week 8 Betting Picks

New Orleans can make this a competitive game, but they just don’t have enough weapons to win the game. Take the Buccaneers -5.0 as they move to 7-1.

Kansas City Chiefs -10.0 vs. New York Giants

The Kansas City Chiefs are an absolute mess, and their 3-4 start has to be one of the biggest surprises in football. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes has thrown nine interceptions this season, and that defense has been a disaster.

The Chiefs host the 2-5 New York Giants on Monday night, and this feels like the perfect time to turn things around. Kansas City is too talented to continue to lose games, and they should feast on a bad Giants team in this one.

New York is dealing with a number of injuries to key players, and this could get out of hand in a hurry. Take the Chiefs -10.0 as the Monday Night Football Game turns into a blowout.
