NFL Week 7 Betting Picks

by WagerHome Blog on October 19, 2022

The Eagles are still unbeaten, the Bills are the deserved NFL favorite in the AFC, and the football being played in the Meadowlands is 100% for real.

The Jets are just the second team in NFL history to have a winning record through six games after being the underdog in all six games. And the Giants now have three double-digit comeback wins, which is tied for the most in their 97 seasons of existence.

What new delights lay in store for NFL fans as we move into Week 7?

Green Bay Packers (-5.5) at Washington Commanders

Carson Wentz is injured, putting the Commanders’ offense back in the hands of Taylor Heinicke. And it’s not a great offense in spite of the win at Chicago. Brian Robinson looks like the real deal running the ball, but that’s it.

The Packers are in need of a get-right NFL game, and Washington is the perfect fodder. Green Bay will get it together and win by at least a touchdown.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-11) at Carolina Panthers

The Buccaneers were big favorites last week, and they lost outright. But this is the Panthers, a team truly in disarray, and with an offense that threw more than 80% of their passes last week behind the line of scrimmage. It’s not really an offense at that rate.

Tom Brady and the Bucs aren’t playing great football, but they will beat a very bad Panthers team by at least two touchdowns. Carolina might not score a point in this one.

NFL

New York Giants (+3) at Jacksonville Jaguars

Just say no to the disrespect to the Giants, at 5-1, and going to Jacksonville as the underdog. The Jags have had their moments, but they haven’t earned the right to be a favorite over a team playing some of the best football in the NFL.

This is a simple choice between believing in the Giants and taking the points or still doubting the Giants. We believe.

Take New York and the points, although you probably won’t need them. The Giants are a good bet to go 6-1.

Kansas City Chiefs (-3) at San Francisco 49ers

It’s possible the 49ers will get Nick Bosa and Trent Williams back in time for their game with the Chiefs. But the list of other injuries that the team is dealing with is hard to fully comprehend.

The 49ers are missing three cornerbacks, two defensive tackles, two other offensive tackles besides Williams, a pair of linebackers, and two defensive ends.

The Chiefs are a better team when all things are equal, and they are not equal going into this NFL game. The Chiefs will beat the short-handed 49ers by at least 10 points.

NFL Week 16 Betting Picks

by WagerHome Blog on December 23, 2021

Welcome back to our NFL Week 16 betting picks! As we move into the final three weeks of the season, there are two things we’re focused on: Which teams have the most to play for and which teams are best equipped to survive positive COVID tests. Unfortunately, December of 2021 is looking a lot like the 2020 season, and rosters can take unexpected hits at any given moment.

So always check the latest COVID/reserve list before placing your NFL Week 16 betting picks.

Cleveland Browns at Green Bay Packers (-7)

We expect that Baker Mayfield will be back for the Browns for Saturday’s game in Green Bay. But the Browns are now 7-7 and on playoff life support. The Packers, on the other hand, have control of home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs, and Aaron Rodgers is playing some of the best football of his life.

The Packers have an extra day of rest, more to play for, and a quarterback looking like a back-to-back MVP. There won’t be a late-game meltdown to blow the point spread like last week at Baltimore. This week Green Bay wins by at least 10 points and covers the spread.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers (+10.5)

The old narrative would read like this: Tom Brady is super angry about getting shut out on Sunday night, and like the Hulk, you don’t want to make Tom Brady angry.

That sentiment about Brady is real, but the injuries just suffered by the Bucs offense are also very real and far more relevant. The simple fact is when Chris Godwin and Leonard Fournette are not in the lineup, this offense struggles. Remove Mike Evans, who we won’t know about until closer to kick-off, and points will be at a premium.

NFL Week 16 Betting Picks

The Panthers have a good defense, and they will be able to slow an already slowed Tampa Bay offense enough to keep the final score to within 10 points. The Bucs will win but take the Panthers and the points.

Los Angeles Chargers (-9) at Houston Texans

Another team that’s angry heading into Week 16 is the Los Angeles Chargers, who are just a fourth-down conversion away from being in the first place. Instead, they are most likely going to finish no better than second place, leaving them in the jumbled mess of the AFC wild-card race.

Winning at Houston keeps the Chargers clear of the teams currently out of the playoffs, like Baltimore and Pittsburgh, and helps them keep pace with the Colts and Bills. Winning big at Houston will help soothe the soul after losing in overtime to the Chiefs, and that is what will happen.

Take the Chargers and give the points.

NFL Week 11 Betting Picks

by WagerHome Blog on November 17, 2021

Week 10 was the week of blowouts, with six wins by 20 points or more and another two wins by 17 points. Which point spreads are safe for NFL Week 11?

Detroit Lions (+10) at Cleveland Browns

Nick Chubb is expected back for the Browns running game, while the status for Kareem Hunt remains unclear. But to be fair, D’Ernest Johnson had 157 total yards in their absence on Sunday, and the Browns still got blown out.

Getting their running backs healthy won’t help much. The Cleveland defense is incredibly disappointing, and Baker Mayfield continues to rack up the injuries and below-average performances.

Detroit, on the other hand, is more competitive than not. In two of the three games in which they have been at least a touchdown underdog, they have covered the spread. They lost to the Ravens by two, the Rams by nine, the Vikings by two, and they tied the Steelers.

The Browns will win on Sunday, but the Lions keep the final score to within one touchdown.

Washington Football Team at Carolina Panthers (-3.5)

Panthers fans were desperate to welcome back Christian McCaffrey throughout the month of October. That’s gone well, with 257 total yards for McCaffrey in the last two weeks.

Unexpectedly, however, was the welcoming back of Cam Newton. The last time these two played significant time together, the Panthers had a top-10 offense.

The McCaffrey-Newton combo isn’t going to become top-10 this season, but a bit of offensive resurgence isn’t unexpected. And when you consider how the Carolina defense is playing, don’t be surprised if the Panthers make the playoffs.

NFL Week 11 Betting Picks

Washington is coming off a huge win, but a big loss of Chase Young to a torn ACL. CMC has a big day against WFT, and the Panthers cover this spread.

New York Giants (+11.5) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Yes, Tom Brady is angry after two straight losses, and he wants to take out his frustrations on the next opponent. Yes, it was the Giants who beat Brady twice in the Super Bowl, and he always enjoys beating them. But no, the issues with the Bucs will not be solved by the will of Tom Brady.

A very limited Washington offense just drove the ball 80 yards on 19 plays to seal the win over the Bucs. Brady can’t cover for that. Richard Sherman is now out with a calf injury, and it’s unclear when he might return. Vita Vea will also be out of the game because of an injury.

The wide receivers are banged up, the defense is short-handed, and the Giants will go into Tampa Bay and cover the spread. Take the points and New York.
