NFL Week 17 Betting Picks

by WagerHome Blog on December 30, 2021

Two weeks remain in the NFL regular season, and there are only two weeks left of a full sixteen games for us to bet on each week. As the teams jockey for final playoff positioning, these are the four games you should give an extra look at in NFL Week 17.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-12.5) at New York Jets

The only fear here is that the Bucs will get up by so much that they’ll take their foot off the gas, and the Jets will get a late score to stay inside two touchdowns.

That fear, however, is small. Tom Brady loves playing the Jets, and here his competitive nature will serve you well. He wants a Super Bowl, but he also wants another MVP award, and that will lead him to pour it on his old division rival.

The Tom Brady show will have Tampa Bay winning this game by at least 17 points.

Los Angeles Rams (-3.5) Baltimore Ravens

These are two teams heading in completely opposite directions.

The Rams have won four straight games, covered all four, and have clinched a playoff berth. L.A.’s next goal is to secure the NFC West title.

The Ravens have lost four straight, gone 2-2 ATS, and have completely fallen out of the playoff picture. And another week goes by, and another cornerback does down with an injury.

The Ravens simply don’t have enough left to win this game and save their season. The Rams win, and they win by at least a touchdown.

Las Vegas Raiders (+6.5) at Indianapolis Colts

The Raiders defense is not equipped to handle Jonathan Taylor. He will get his yards, and the Colts will get their points. But even when Taylor is at his best, those points from the offense don’t get too high.

Taylor was great against the Cardinals, and Indy scored 22. He ran for 170 against the Patriots, and their final tally was 27.

NFL Week 17 Betting Picks

Derek Carr is having a good season, and he expects to have Darren Waller back, and that will make a huge difference for the Raiders in keeping this game close. The Colts will still win, but Las Vegas only loses by a field goal.

Houston Texans (+13) at San Francisco 49ers

Is an injured Jimmy Garoppolo better than a still very raw Trey Lance?

After Garoppolo tore a ligament in his thumb last Thursday, the effects were obvious. He struggled to grip the football and throw it, and most doctors agree that he won’t be able to play this week or even again this season. However, the 49ers haven’t ruled him out just yet.

Regardless, the Texans are playing spirited football and covered two weeks in a row, and with a big 13-point spread against the 49ers, they will cover for a third straight week.

College Football Playoff: Cotton Bowl and Orange Bowl Betting Previews

by WagerHome Blog on December 28, 2021

It has been an unusual bowl season to be sure, with teams pulling out, replacement teams being found, and some bowls just outright canceled.

However, two games this Friday that we know will be played are the College Football Playoff Semifinals, taking place in Dallas and Miami.

Cotton Bowl – No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 4 Cincinnati (+13.5)

Alabama was an eyelash away from losing its final regular season game and not even making it to this point. But they won that game in the closing seconds, and then by virtue of their win over Georgia in the SEC Championship Game, they are the No. 1 ranked team heading into the CFP.

They certainly look like the better team when compared to the Bearcats, but are they two touchdowns better?

Cincinnati finished hot, beating the spread in its final three games. But before that, they went four straight without covering and only beat Navy and Tulsa by one score. Their overall strength of schedule ranks 45th; Alabama’s is first.

Bryce Young is fantastic, and if the Heisman winner duplicates his play from the SEC title game, Alabama cruises. But the Bearcats are physical up front, and Desmond Ridder is also a talented quarterback.

College Football playoffs

Heisman winning quarterback Bryce Young and the Alabama Crimson Tide take on Cincinnati in the Collège Football playoffs.

Alabama wins, but Cincinnati keeps it under 10 points.

Orange Bowl – No 2. Michigan vs. No. 3 Georgia (-7.5)

Instead of pining for the game they could have had against Cincinnati, had Michigan not been passed over by Alabama, they are preparing to take on the team that was No. 1 in the nation for most of the season, Georgia.

The Bulldogs are the favorite because of just how great they looked from September through November, beating FBS teams by an average margin of victory of 32 points.

They did get run out of the building by Alabama, but Michigan doesn’t have an offense nearly as potent as what Georgia just faced, and that’s why the Bulldogs are favored to win by more than a touchdown.

The Wolverines counter their own great defense that hammered both Ohio State and Iowa to win the Big Ten. But the Michigan defense, while great, is a tick below that of Georgia.

Michigan has two great running backs in Hassan Haskins and Blake Corum, but just how good can they be against Georgia? Quarterback Cade McNamara has been solid down the stretch, but he can’t take over games.

Georgia will simply be too much for Michigan, and they will cover this spread.

College Football Bowl Game Betting Picks

by WagerHome Blog on December 24, 2021

We get a full Christmas weekend of NFL action, with the college football bowl schedule taking a backseat to the pros. There is just a single college bowl game on Christmas Day and no games on Sunday the 26th.

But on the 27th, the bowl season kicks into high gear, and the week leading into the College Football Playoff Semifinals is packed with great betting matchups.

East Carolina (+3.5) vs. Boston College – Military Bowl, Dec. 27

The East Carolina Pirates were underestimated all season long and finished the year at 5-3 against the spread when they were the underdog. They won four of their last five games of the season, only losing to unbeaten Cincinnati.

Boston College finished the season with a loss to Florida State and a beatdown at the hands of Wake Forest. Add in a month layoff and less to play for than East Carolina, and you should take the Pirates and the points.

No. 20 Houston Cougars (+3) vs. Auburn – Birmingham Bowl, Dec. 28

The last time we saw Auburn, they nearly pulled off the huge upset over Alabama. Instead, it was a loss, just like each of their last four games. In fact, if not for starting the season with Akron and Alabama State, Auburn isn’t even bowl eligible.

The last time we saw Houston, they were playing the Cincinnati Bearcats tough but ultimately losing. But prior to that, the Cougars had won 11 straight games. It wasn’t the most challenging schedule, but when you string together that many wins, you’re a good team.

College Football Bowl Game Betting Picks

Houston has had a much better season than Auburn. Take the Cougars and the points.

No. 14 Oregon vs. No. 16 Oklahoma (-4.5) – Alamo Bowl, Dec. 29

It’s the battle of two teams that entertained ideas of a College Football Playoff berth late in the season and now find themselves with new head coaches.

In Oregon, the new man is Dan Lanning, although he is staying with Georgia through its CFP run. Wide receivers coach Bryan McClendon will coach Oregon in the Alamo Bowl, even though he’s likely to join Mario Cristobal’s staff in Miami.

So Oklahoma, with Bob Stoops as its interim head coach for the Alamo Bowl, actually has more stability heading into the game. Lincoln Riley is heading to USC, but the Sooners football team gets to play for a legend who won 10 Big 12 titles and a National Championship in 2000.

It’s because of Stoops and the superior talent at Oklahoma that the best bet is to take the Sooners and lay the points.

NFL Week 16 Betting Picks

by WagerHome Blog on December 23, 2021

Welcome back to our NFL Week 16 betting picks! As we move into the final three weeks of the season, there are two things we’re focused on: Which teams have the most to play for and which teams are best equipped to survive positive COVID tests. Unfortunately, December of 2021 is looking a lot like the 2020 season, and rosters can take unexpected hits at any given moment.

So always check the latest COVID/reserve list before placing your NFL Week 16 betting picks.

Cleveland Browns at Green Bay Packers (-7)

We expect that Baker Mayfield will be back for the Browns for Saturday’s game in Green Bay. But the Browns are now 7-7 and on playoff life support. The Packers, on the other hand, have control of home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs, and Aaron Rodgers is playing some of the best football of his life.

The Packers have an extra day of rest, more to play for, and a quarterback looking like a back-to-back MVP. There won’t be a late-game meltdown to blow the point spread like last week at Baltimore. This week Green Bay wins by at least 10 points and covers the spread.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers (+10.5)

The old narrative would read like this: Tom Brady is super angry about getting shut out on Sunday night, and like the Hulk, you don’t want to make Tom Brady angry.

That sentiment about Brady is real, but the injuries just suffered by the Bucs offense are also very real and far more relevant. The simple fact is when Chris Godwin and Leonard Fournette are not in the lineup, this offense struggles. Remove Mike Evans, who we won’t know about until closer to kick-off, and points will be at a premium.

NFL Week 16 Betting Picks

The Panthers have a good defense, and they will be able to slow an already slowed Tampa Bay offense enough to keep the final score to within 10 points. The Bucs will win but take the Panthers and the points.

Los Angeles Chargers (-9) at Houston Texans

Another team that’s angry heading into Week 16 is the Los Angeles Chargers, who are just a fourth-down conversion away from being in the first place. Instead, they are most likely going to finish no better than second place, leaving them in the jumbled mess of the AFC wild-card race.

Winning at Houston keeps the Chargers clear of the teams currently out of the playoffs, like Baltimore and Pittsburgh, and helps them keep pace with the Colts and Bills. Winning big at Houston will help soothe the soul after losing in overtime to the Chiefs, and that is what will happen.

Take the Chargers and give the points.

NFL Week 15 Betting Picks

by WagerHome Blog on December 15, 2021

Welcome to our NFL Week 15 Betting Picks! The NFL has moved into its Saturday game phase, so we are now treated to a full slate of NFL games all weekend long for the remainder of the regular season. More days of football is always a good thing, as are more days of football betting.

New England Patriots at Indianapolis Colts (-2.5)

It’s not that we’re not believers in the one-year turnaround in New England. The Patriots deserve their top spot in the AFC playoff seedings. We’re just big believers in the Colts at home, with Jonathan Taylor leading the way.

Both teams are coming off their bye, and are well-rested and as healthy as you can expect this late in the season. New England is also rolling. Their weather game in Buffalo was close, but their previous four wins were by 18, 38, 25, and 23 points.

But Saturday night is all about Taylor and if the Patriots can stop him. New England ranks 19th against the run, and in their last three games, they’ve given up 136.3 ypg. That is the opening Taylor needs, and that is why the Colts win this game 24-20, covering the spread.

Cincinnati Bengals (+1.5) at Denver Broncos

There are five teams in the AFC bunched up at 7-6, and only two of them are going to make the playoffs. These two teams would both like to be in that group, making Sunday’s game in Denver a must-win for both.

The Broncos did look good last week, but it was Detroit. The week before, when they were in Kansas City and playing for first place in the AFC West, they lost 22-9.

NFL Week 15 Betting Picks

The Bengals are coming off two straight losses at home, but Joe Burrow, despite his injured finger, is playing well. And when it comes to do-or-die football in late December, go with the better quarterback. Plus, the weather in Denver will be nice this weekend, leaving the Bengals offense to do its thing and win this game outright.

Green Bay Packers (-4.5) at Baltimore Ravens

As we just said with Joe Burrow and the Bengals, go with the better quarterback. And in Baltimore this weekend, despite these being the last two NFL MVPs, Aaron Rodgers is the better quarterback. And the healthiest.

Rodgers is rolling right now. Over his last three games, he has 1,033 yards, ten touchdown passes, and zero interceptions. Lamar Jackson has thrown five interceptions in his last three games and will be playing on a sprained ankle.

The Ravens look like a team completely out of gas. Green Bay looks like a team on a mission. Packers roll and win by 10 points.

Tiger Returns: Woods Set to Tee off in Orlando

by WagerHome Blog on December 14, 2021

When Tiger Woods was involved in his single-car accident last February, there was serious concern that he might never play competitive golf again. It turns out just ten months after the accident; he’s back.

Woods has announced that he will be playing as a father-son team at PNC Championship in Orlando this coming weekend.

“Although it’s been a long and challenging year, I am very excited to close it out by competing in the PNC Championship with my son, Charlie. I’m playing as a Dad and couldn’t be more excited and proud.”

Last year Tiger and Charlie, now 12-years-old, finished seventh in this tournament.

PNC Championship Qualifications

The Father/Son Challenge, now the PNC Championship, is an invitation-only event. Players must have won a major championship or The Players Championship to be eligible. The only requirement regarding the PGA player’s teammate is that they not be a touring professional golfer at the time of the event.

While it has traditionally been PGA Tour professionals teaming up with their sons, last year’s champion, Justin Thomas, played with his father. In 2005 Fuzzy Zoeller played with his daughter, as did Bernhard Langer in 2013 and 2016. And Arnold Palmer played in the tournament in 2013 with his grandson.

Tiger Returns: Woods Set to Tee off in OrlandoWhat’s Next for Tiger?

One of the reasons the PNC Championship is a perfect venue for a Woods return is the relaxed nature of an event that focuses on family. All eyes will be on him and his physical recovery, but the expectations will be muted.

But if Tiger is able to play this weekend, when will we see him in a regular PGA Tour event? That answer is still unknown.

“I’ll put it to you this way. As far as playing at the Tour level, I don’t know when that’s going to happen. Now, I’ll play a round here or there, a little hit-and-giggle. I can do something like that.”

What Woods means by “hit-and-giggle” is the occasional charitable event and individual tournament, like what he’s doing this weekend. He admits that he still feels pain in his leg and ankle, and now at 45-years-old, he has already ruled out a return to full-time golf.

As for the first major of 2022, the Masters, which tees off on April 7, Woods has made no commitments either way. Although he is currently on the Masters betting board, paying +3500 if he wins.

Pay Per Head Software

There is, of course, the end of the NFL season and the college football bowl season dominating the betting headlines right now, but the PGA season also continues. Golfers are in Orlando this season, and right after the New Year, they head to The Plantation Course on Maui.

NFL Week 14 Betting Picks

by WagerHome Blog on December 7, 2021

In Week 13, three AFC teams with playoff hopes lost winnable games at home. The shocking result in the NFC was the Detroit Lions getting their first win against the playoff-hopeful Vikings. So what is going to happen in NFL Week 14?

Baltimore Ravens (+2.5) at Cleveland Browns

Yes, the Ravens are coming off a loss at Pittsburgh. Yes, they just lost corner Marlon Humphrey for the season. And yes, Lamar Jackson has the second-most interceptions in the NFL with 13.

But the Browns continue to be one of the most injured teams in the NFL, and no one is sure just how long Baker Mayfield can hold up physically. And these teams just played each other in Week 12, and the Ravens won the game, even with four Jackson interceptions.

Chances of another four interceptions coming gift-wrapped for Cleveland are long, and if the Browns couldn’t win then, why should they be favorites now?

Take the points.

New Orleans Saints at New York Jets (+6)

The Jets lost again last week because they are the Jets, but Zach Wilson wasn’t all that bad. It was easily his best game in two months, and it gives New York fans a little hope that this season isn’t a total loss.

The Saints, on the other hand, have to look at 2021 as a total loss. Injuries have killed them, and having no real or clear plan for quarterback succession has left them with a five-game losing streak.

We finally got to see Taysom Hill at QB, and while it started well, it ended rather poorly. His injured finger doesn’t require surgery, but how can New Orleans be almost a touchdown favorite?

The Saints are bad, Hill isn’t healthy, and all other options are horrible. Take the Jets and the points.

Buffalo Bills at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-3)

These are tough times for the Buffalo Bills. The Patriots were supposed to be rebuilding, and the Bills were supposed to be a Super Bowl contender. But on Monday, the Patriots got a big leg up on the race for the AFC East by winning in the snow and wind of Buffalo.

Now, when you face a must-win game to keep pace in the division race, you’re facing the biggest of all thorns in your side, Tom Brady.

The Bills are reeling, and the Buccaneers are rolling. Buffalo is missing their best defensive back, Tre’Davious White, and Brady is playing like the MVP favorite, which he is.

Tampa Bay has won three straight, Buffalo has lost two of three, and the Bucs win this game by at least a touchdown.

Early College Football Playoff Betting Picks

by WagerHome Blog on December 6, 2021

Hello darkness, my old friend…

For those of you (us) that thought finally we were going to avoid having to watch Alabama in the College Football Playoff, not so fast. ‘Bama is back in the CFP for the seventh time in eight seasons on the strength of a dominating win over Georgia to win the SEC.

The win was good enough, and Nick Saban’s history is decorated enough for the Crimson Tide to be the favorite to win the National Championship.

  • Alabama (+120)
  • Georgia (+140)
  • Michigan (+700)
  • Cincinnati (+1600)

Alabama has the best coach in the country, regularly the best roster in the country, and has quarterback Bryce Young, who is the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy. Even though this was a disappointing season by Tuscaloosa standards, they are the favorite, and it’s easy to see why.

No. 1 Alabama (-14) vs. No. 4 Cincinnati – Cotton Bowl

The four teams that made it in did it without controversy. But the seeding of the four teams is not without argument. As good as Cincinnati has been this season, everyone wanted to be seeded first so they could play the Bearcats.

Alabama gets that honor, jumping from No. 3 to No. 1 because of their win over Georgia. As selection committee chair Gary Barta explained, “Not only did Alabama beat Georgia – the way they beat them. They controlled the game, pretty much from start to finish.”

Couldn’t Barta say the same thing about Michigan, who Alabama leapfrogged? In fact, you could say it, but without the “pretty much,” because Michigan’s 42-3 was every bit start to finish dominating win.

Saying that Alabama’s one win was more impressive than Michigan’s last two wins is questionable, but that’s what the committee did, and the Tide gets Cincinnati in the semifinal. However, they will have to do it without star wide receiver John Metchie III, who is out with a significant ACL injury.

No. 2 Michigan vs. No. 3 Georgia (-7.5) – Orange Bowl

If there was one knock on Georgia, it was wins over quality teams. They played lots of great football this season, but their schedule was without any top-10 teams. Until they faced No. 3 Alabama, and that didn’t go so well.

Now they get a team that has dominating wins over a pair of top-10 teams, Wisconsin and Ohio State. And Michigan just won the Big Ten with a blowout over Iowa, 42-3.

Early College Football Playoff Betting Picks

But we know that Georgia is still really good. Michigan still has Jim Harbaugh as its head coach, and his ability to win big games is still in doubt. And being runner-up in the SEC is still considered just as good as winning most other conferences.

And for all of those reasons, Georgia is more than a touchdown favorite to win their semifinal and set up a rematch with Alabama in the Championship Game.

NFL Week 13 Betting Picks of the Week

by WagerHome Blog on December 1, 2021

Thanksgiving is behind us, December football is here, and the sprint to the end of the NFL regular season begins. Below are some of the best NFL Week 13 betting picks you can make this week!

Los Angeles Chargers at Cincinnati Bengals (-3)

One of the most compelling games of Week 13 is the Chargers at the Bengals. Justin Herbert vs. Joe Burrow. One team that’s a puzzle vs. one team figuring it out.

At one point, the Chargers were 4-1 and looking like the AFC’s best. Since then, they’ve lost four of six and just got manhandled by the Broncos. As good as Herbert is, his defense is the opposite. Against the run, they rank dead last in the NFL.

So forget about Burrow on Sunday because it’s all about Joe Mixon. He had 123 rushing yards two weeks ago, 165 last week (both wins), and he will have a third straight big day.

Mixon leads the Bengals to the win and the cover.

Indianapolis Colts (-9) at Houston Texans

The Texans did beat the Titans, but that says more about the Titans without their offensive stars and a league that can see anyone win if the ball bounces the right way.

Following that win, the Texans went out and lost to the Jets and looked like a team that, if not for the Lions, would be the worst in the NFL.

The Colts are coming off a loss to the Bucs, but that was against one of the Super Bowl favorites. And against a fairly good defense, they put up 31 points. This game is not against a fairly good defense, and Jonathan Taylor should run wild.

NFL Week 13 Betting Picks of the Week

Indianapolis may have lost the division last week, but they will win this week by at least two touchdowns.

Washington Football Team (+2.5) at Las Vegas Raiders

It was a good and needed performance by the Raiders on Thanksgiving. Las Vegas had lost three straight games, and the last two by huge margins.

Meanwhile, Washington is riding a three-game winning streak. Yes, the last two came against the Panthers and Seahawks. But they covered both of those spreads, and those games came on the heels of their biggest win of the year, a 10-point victory over Tampa Bay.

The way to handle the Raiders is with your running backs. Joe Mixon rushed for 123 yards, and the Bengals won easily. Darrel Williams had 101 yards receiving out of the backfield, and the Chiefs won easily. And Washington has two very good running backs in Antonio Gibson and J.D. McKissic.

The two accounted for 202 total yards and two touchdowns last week. The week before, it was 145 yards and two scores. This week they have another big game, and Washington will cover for the fourth straight week.

College Football Conference Championship Betting Picks

by WagerHome Blog on December 1, 2021

It is Conference Championship Week, and not only is it the last weekend to get in your regular-season college football bets, it’s one of the best weekends of the year.

Pac-12 – No. 10 Oregon vs. No. 14 Utah (-3)

We get started on Friday night, as Oregon and Utah meet in Las Vegas. It’s hard not to look at Utah’s thrashing of Oregon two weeks ago and think we’ll see the same thing this week. Clearly, it’s what Vegas is seeing, making the lower-ranked Utes the favorites.

Oregon just hasn’t been the same Oregon team that was in the previous two Pac-12 Championships. Utah will win and cover and go to its first Rose Bowl.

Big 12 – No. 5 Oklahoma State (-5.5) vs. No. 9 Baylor

Following their big Bedlam win, Oklahoma State is not only in its first-ever Big 12 Championship Game, it hasn’t given up on the College Football Playoff.

Oklahoma State beat Baylor this year, it thumped the Bears last year, and the Cowboys come in on a five-game winning streak. Baylor, on the other hand, just barely beat seventh-place Texas Tech.

With so much at stake, the Cowboys keep rolling and win this game by a touchdown.

SEC – No. 1 Georgia (-6.5) vs. No. 4 Alabama

Still, with only one loss, this simply isn’t the Alabama team we’re used to seeing. They escaped with their lives against Auburn a week after struggling to put away Arkansas.

Georgia has been the best team all season long and just hammered in-state rival Georgia Tech by 45. Georgia hasn’t played a quarterback like Bryce Young this season, but they still get the win. As for them covering, give the points at your own risk.

College Football Conference Championship Betting Picks

AAC – No. 16 Houston at No. 3 Cincinnati (-10.5)

Cincinnati is perfect on the season and is now just one win away from becoming the first non-Power 5 Conference team to make the College Football Playoff.

It won’t be easy, as Houston rolls in with eight straight games of at least 30 points. They’ve also gone over 40 points in seven games this season.

Still, the Bearcats will prevail. And with back-to-back wins over Houston by a total of 43 points, they will cover.

Big Ten – No. 2 Michigan (-11) vs. No. 15 Iowa

The monkey is off Jim Harbaugh’s back, as he finally got over the hurdle of Ohio State, and in dominant fashion too.

Michigan’s running game and pass rush will be too much for the Hawkeyes, and Michigan will win its way into the CFP. But Iowa is a good, physical team, and they will keep this final score to within 10 points.

It’s the final weekend of the regular season, but we go bowling as soon as December 17. So if you are an independent bookmaker hoping to maximize the end of the college football year, now is the time to partner with a pay per head software provider like WagerHome.com.
